Despite The Nay-Sayers, America Is Great Again Under President Trump

Lee Greenwood sang these moving words that have become special to a lot of people, “And I’m proud to be an American where at least I know I’m free and I won’t forget the men who died who gave that right to me. And I’d gladly stand up next to you and defend Her still today, ’cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land. God Bless the U.S.A.” Patriotism can be defined as “vigorous support for one’s country.” Patriotism doesn’t always mean agreement, but it does mean to not denigrate or belittle one’s country. There seem to be many who, because of their hatred for President Trump, have forgotten what patriotism means.
Chelsea Clinton, in a recent interview with The Guardian attacked President Trump and his work to “Make America Great Again.” She called for British people to protest when Trump visits the country in July, saying she would do so “because I don’t agree with what he’s doing to degrade what it means to be an American.” Her attacks include the regular litany of liberal lies about how building a wall is racist, how the Trump administration is corrupt and how she is concerned about the Russia investigation.
Though there is nothing new in what I think are Chelsea Clinton’s unpatriotic shots against the president and those who support him, I thought it might be good to see how great things are in America under President Trump.
–The economy is stronger, much stronger! You can get a job and have more money in your pocket. The unemployment rate has fallen to 3.9% in May of 2018. The unemployment rate for African Americans is at an all-time low (6.6%) and the unemployment rate for Hispanics has fallen to 4.8%. Many Democrats are now seeing the strong economy and are crediting President Trump for it. Newsweek magazine in April of 2018 wrote, “A plurality of Democrats have indicated that President Donald Trump—not his predecessor Barack Obama—is responsible for the current state of the country’s economy.” The tax cuts that were promoted by President Trump and passed by Congress without a single Democrat vote, have been successful. People have more money in their pockets. According to an April 2018 edition of The Daily Signal, for Tony Hodge, a rural mail carrier from Hurricane, West Virginia, the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act meant a savings for his family of $2,417.
–Your investments are doing better, much better! You can have a better retirement than you once thought you could. The numbers tell a positive story. Stocks have risen sharply since Trump took office on Jan. 20, 2017. In a January 2018 article in USA Today Tom Essaye, a trader and founder of The Sevens Report, a Palm Beach Gardens, FL newsletter, wrote, “Regardless of anyone’s political opinion of Trump, you can’t argue with results.”
–America is safer, much safer! Across the globe, President Trump has restored respect for America and her values. Under President Trump ISIS has been degraded and, in many places, defeated. One year into the Trump administration ISIS lost control of Mosul, the second-largest city in Iraq. Three months later, ISIS’ capital, the Syrian city of Raqqa, fell. President Trump has consistently and boldly stood against the barbaric acts of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and his handlers in the Kremlin. Nikki Haley, UN Ambassador, said in April of this year, “The United States is locked and loaded. When our President draws a red line, our President enforces a red line.” President Trump continues to navigate unprecedented and unchartered waters as he negotiates the path to a denuclearized North Korea. He has courageously ended a “bad deal” with Iran. Richard Goldberg, architect of the sanctions that the Obama administration lifted in 2016 as part of the Iran deal, in a Vox interview in April noted that President Trump was right to end the deal. He continued, “I think his speech offered a coherent vision for what he’s going to do next. I think he started with a stunning and accurate indictment of the deal itself, and he ended in two positive directions.” In addition to all these things, the number of illegal immigrants entering the US has declined. Support for law enforcement is back to where it needs to be. Congress has authorized more support and funding for border agents and morale has never been higher.
These are just three examples of all the amazing things that are happening. Despite the best attempts of the Democrats and the Deep State to derail our president, success continues to roll.
As I write this on Memorial Day, I am reminded that freedom isn’t free. This country was established and maintained by the willing sacrifice of the American soldier. I am honored to inherit such freedom. I am proud of our president and what he and his administration seek to accomplish. I am proud of what it means to be an American and I desire to live a life worthy of the sacrifice of those who gave their all. May the greatness of America continue to shine.
