Do we STILL really need to tell people not to do crap like this?
Hogg and his mom were out of town when a call that is now being called a hoax went out, and the SWAT team showed up at his door.
The caller claimed there was a hostage situation in which there had been a stabbing, and someone was barricaded in the home.
Police arrived and found it wasn’t true.

We cannot emphasize strongly enough how egregious the practice of ‘SWATTING’ is — no matter who is doing it and no matter who it is being done against.
Police are diverted from places they can be of real help, and it creates dangerous situations that can easily turn lethal… just ask the residents of Witchita.
It’s as bad, or worse than — doxxing (making private info public). You may remember that the home address of an unrelated Zimmerman family was made public after the Treyvon incident, creating a dangerous situation. And more recently, Shaun King believed a dishonest accusation against the police, and Doxxed a cop that doesn’t even work in the area.
It took no time at all for Hogg to leverage the event for his cause.
“I think it’s really a distraction from what we’re trying to fix here, which is the massive gun-violence epidemic in this country,” Hogg told Local 10 News reporter Liane Morejon.

There’s just one problem with that theory.
We don’t yet know anything about the caller or his/her motives.
Three explanations present themselves.
1) David Hogg is correct, and this call was actually motivated by someone opposed to his very high-profile political actions against lawful gun ownership.
2) This could be a publicity stunt by someone sympathetic to his cause, in order to make him seem like he is being victimized again. (Seeing how cutthroat his crowd is willing to be in their political gamesmanship… who obviously have no problem with Extortion as a political tactic … this could be one possible explanation.
3) Someone with motives unrelated to his political ambitions made the call. The possible reasons for someone having a personal grudge are as varied as people themselves.
Whatever the motive, let’s hope the culprit gets caught and faces serious charges.
