In Attacks on Kavanaugh, We’re Shocked — Shocked! — that Abortion Enthusiasts Act Repulsively

An opinion piece in September 13th’s New York Post carried the disparaging headline: “Democrats hit a new low in their crusade against Kavanaugh”.

With respect to the paper, methinks it’s giving party leaders far too much credit.

The tabloid is correct the anti-Kavanaugh lobby “took a despicable new turn with a last-minute push to exploit an anonymous allegation [against Kavanaugh] that Sen. Dianne Feinstein’s been sitting on for months … ‘sexual misconduct’ … back in high school”. (His accuser has since identified herself, but her charges remain vague and nigh-on-impossible to prove.) With Senate confirmation hearings concluded and the potential Supreme Court nominee’s interrogation/testimony wrapped, this was an irresponsible, beyond-last-ditch, “does-anyone-have-anything?” gambit by a desperate opposition.

But a new low? Let’s be honest: once you’ve made your raison d’être — your purpose for existence — keeping the skids greased for legalized baby-killing, there’s not tons of wiggle room for sinking any deeper. Amidst hiking Americans’ tax and regulatory burdens, environmental hysteria, eradication of immigration control, even the warping of sexuality and marriage, the overriding priority of contemporary liberalism resolutely remains: keeping it easy for mommies to snuff out the lives of their unborn progeny. It’s a “right” they fear a “Justice Kavanaugh” would imperil. The political clique that once endorsed keeping abortion “safe, legal and rare” has gone the way of Roe-v.-Wade-era bell bottoms and afros.

Once you’re all-in on government-approved filicide, pretty much everything else merely becomes ghoulish window dressing.

I’m reminded of those surreptitious recordings of Planned Parenthood water-carriers dickering and chortling over how much they could charge biotech companies for salvaged infant body parts. Macabre? No doubt — but these fiends have dedicated their careers to tearing apart gestating people and vacuuming their remains out of the womb. What’s a little baby-bartering over lunch?

It’s bizarre anyone would be startled when abortion-crazy outfits lie — as they regularly do — about how many abortions they perform, their abattoirs’ medical conditions, the Biology-101 status of their tiny victims, etc. Remember: these vampires kill kids for their bread and butter; it’s their daily preoccupation. Why would they cavil over occasional — or even frequent — falsehoods in service to that bloody-minded business?

I read somewhere long ago, evil is “fissiparous” — spreading, pervading, poisoning everything else in individuals who nurture it. Your supreme passion is baby-killing? Utterly and exhaustively up-ending the mother-instinct, one of the most ineluctable urges operating on the planet? What other parts of your life won’t become curdled and corrupted?

It’s not only singular persons who become morally desensitized, either. Societies which tip their hat to extinguishing the most innocent among them suffer, as well. Mother Theresa pronounced as much when, addressing the National Prayer Breakfast in February 1994 — as President Bill Clinton, his wife and Vice-President Al Gore sat listening nearby — she said,

The greatest destroyer of peace today is abortion, because it is a war against the child … murder by the mother herself. And if we accept that a mother can kill even her own child, how can we tell other people not to kill one another? … Any country that accepts abortion is not teaching its people to love, but to use any violence to get what they want. This is why the greatest destroyer of love and peace is abortion.

.

In a Wall Street Journal commentary that same month, she diagnosed grimly: “America needs no words from me to see how your decision in Roe v. Wade has deformed a great nation.”

Why wouldn’t incidents of personal assault, even abuse of women and little children, escalate within a culture that says terminating tiny people in utero is a-okay? If human beings are fair game before they enter the visible world, why should their lives be sacrosanct after their natal debut?

Arguably more than any of the twenty-first-century’s other heinous and proliferating practices, state-approved abortion embodies the Old Testament prophet’s warning, “Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; Who substitute darkness for light and light for darkness; Who substitute bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter!” (Isaiah 5:20; NASB) It’s an appalling perversion of the natural, created order; a blast against decency on the most primeval level; exactly backwards and upside-down of how things ought to be in any civilized system.

Apparently, that’s not how Chelsea Clinton sees things. Appearing as guest on Sirius XM’s Signal Boost, the former first-daughter — her mom and dad were confronted publicly by Mother Theresa’s withering jeremiad twenty-four years ago — allowed how she’d oppose any return to pre-Roe days. “As a deeply religious person, it’s also un-Christian to me,” she intoned.

Then there’s “comedienne” Sarah Silverman’s January 2018 charity event: Life Is a Living Nightmare: A Telethon to Make It Stop. The noble cause being boosted, you ask? This fund-raiser was billed as a “two hour hell-raising comedy extravaganza … live streamed … [to] entertain while rais[ing] awareness about the current assault on reproductive rights.” Stippled with mostly b- and c-list celebrities like Silverman, Amy Brenneman and Andy Richter, it “promise[d] an outrageously funny evening that will help raise money for the important work of … get[ting] out the vote … expos[ing] anti choice politicians and help[ing] elect pro choice politicians.”

When the final product broadcast, it turned out to be a shrieking, wince-inducing train-wreck of tackiness: excruciatingly unfunny banter, shrill women cursing like fourteen-year-old boys smoking behind the gymnasium, a lady galumphing about in a purported “vagina-costume” and sycophantic male supporters (Star Wars (Mark Hamill (!) included) achingly displaying their politically-correct sensitivities. At one point, Silvermann japed delightfully about “want[ing] to eat an aborted fetus.”

Makes one wonder if, along with scrambling cognitive and moral sensibilities, pro-abortion thinking wrecks one’s capacity for good taste.

In an episode of Hulu’s I Love You, America, the forty-seven-year-old stand-up lately disgorged this beaut: “We’re all human, except for fetuses, according to science.”

So, Chelsea Clinton: Abortion status quo — Christian! Sarah Silverman: Human fetuses — not human!

Deep stuff, there.

There’s no avoiding: devotion to baby-killing addles people and the world in which they live, all-the-way-around. It’s reality-denying insanity which takes a toll on mind, soul, community, basic dignity. The evidence is accumulating everyday as abortion statistics pile up, as well.

Don’t misunderstand me, I’m not completely repudiating that New York Post headline. Democrats are indeed scraping the barrel’s bottom. It’s just that, taking into account their child-killing mania, they’ve been squatting down there for quite a few years now. Their ensanguined shenanigans should never cease horrifying honorable folks; they should, however, no longer surprise us.
