Here we go again. The ‘tolerance’ police are banning a chicken restaurant for their alleged ‘bigotry’.
Chick-fil-a is a favorite target of LGBTQ+ activists because of CEO Dan Cathy’s stand for traditional marriage back in 2012.
A new project at the San Antonio Airport would open up new food options for travelers. A motion was put forward at the San Antonio City Council that explicitly excluded the chicken restaurant chain from the project because the company donated to organizations that expressed ‘anti-LGBTQ’ opinions.
The donations to the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, the Paul Anderson Youth Home, and the Salvation Army were revealed by leftist blog, ThinkProgress.
It was reported the Salvation Army had opposed legal protection for the LGBTQ community, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes had a policy that banned ‘homosexual acts’ and the Paul Anderson Youth Home taught troubled residents that homosexuality was wrong.
The chicken strip restaurant told Think Progress they stopped donating to the youth home after a ‘blog post from 2010 surfaced that does not meet Chick-fil-A’s commitment to creating a welcoming environment to all’.
No mention of the great philanthropic work that each of these Christian organization does, though.
The move came after on Wednesday Think Progress shared tax documents from Chick-fil-A Inc. showing it had donated $1.8million to discriminatory organizations.
It was despite a 2012 backlash against Chick-fil-A’s CEO Dan Cathy who claimed America is ‘inviting God’s judgment on our nation when we shake our fist at him and say we know better than you as to what constitutes a marriage.’
The company later vowed in a Facebook statement to ‘leave the policy debate over same-sex marriage to the government and political arena’.
District 1 City Councilman Roberto Treviño had put forward a motion to approve the Food, Beverage and Retail Prime Concession Agreement with Paradies Lagardère ‘provided that it exclude the Chick-Fil-A concept’. The motion passed 6-4.
Treviño said in a statement: ‘With this decision, the City Council reaffirmed the work our city has done to become a champion of equality and inclusion. San Antonio is a city full of compassion, and we do not have room in our public facilities for a business with a legacy of anti-LGBTQ behavior.
‘Everyone has a place here, and everyone should feel welcome when they walk through our airport. I look forward to the announcement of a suitable replacement by Paradies.’
Everyone is welcome except Chick-fil-A, apparently.
Chick-fil-A responded to the news in a statement to the Daily Mail:
‘The press release issued by the councilmember was the first we heard of his motion and its approval by the San Antonio City Council. We wish we had the opportunity to clarify misperceptions about our company prior to the vote.
‘We agree with the councilmember that everyone should feel welcome at Chick-fil-A. In fact, we have welcomed everyone in San Antonio into our 32 local stores for more than 40 years. Our local restaurants consistently give back to the San Antonio community, and have awarded more than $600,000 in scholarships to Chick-fil-A restaurant team members in San Antonio.’
Mentioning that they were named ‘Best Franchise Brand’ in 2018 by Airport Revenue News, Chick-fil-A said they have been ‘transparent about our giving’ via their website and are ‘proud of the positive impact we are making in communities across America, and specifically in San Antonio’.
‘We would welcome the opportunity to have a thoughtful dialogue with the city council and we invite all of them into our local stores to interact with the more than 2,000 team members who are serving the people of San Antonio, the statement continued. ‘We hope they will experience for themselves that Chick-fil-A embraces all people, regardless of race, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation or gender identity.’
Senator Ted Cruz(R-TX) is using his Twitter accounts to fight the bigotry against the delicious chicken fast-food restaurant.
The Texas Republican on Friday afternoon responded to news the restaurant was blocked from opening at the airport in April 2020 due to its donations to organizations that have expressed anti-LGBTQ views.
‘The citizens of beautiful San Antonio deserve more delicious sandwiches, and fewer rabid attacks against companies because of their charitable giving to the community. Come on,’ Cruz posted on Twitter alongside an article revealing the City Council voted to pass a project as long as the chicken eatery wasn’t a part of it.

Senator Cruz tweeted from both his government and his personal Twitter accounts. Cruz’s government account has 1.2 million followers, and his personal account boasts 3.3 million followers.

But let’s get real for a second, this outrage over Chick-fil-a is essentially a proxy war by leftists against Christians and the most delicious chicken sandwiches in all of creation.
Chick-fil-a has been voted as one of the top (often the favorite) American fast food restaurant chain. I think Chick-fil-a needs to continue it’s ‘creepy infiltration’ of all the leftist spaces (like Manhattan) and bestow on the unworthy their heaven-touched chicken.
Then maybe leftists can just get over the outrage.
