Occasional-Cortex Goes After The NRA For The New Zealand Shooting

Does she come up with these stupid, embarrassing and offensive statements all by herself, or does she have help?

What kind of a cold and calculating harpy do you have to be when your first instinct after seeing a bloodbath in a foreign nation is to point fingers at a domestic political rival?

And to do so in such a tone-deaf way is low, even by the Left’s quadruple-standards.

When reports came out of New Zealand that a gunman walked into not one, but two mosques during Friday prayers, and started shooting people dead, we saw the usual range of human reaction. Outrage, grief, anger, dismay.

But Alexandra Occasio Cortez saw something else. She saw AN OPPORTUNITY to attack the NRA and People of PRAYER.

She’s learned well from Rahm Emanuel: “You never let a serious crisis go to waste. And what I mean by that it’s an opportunity to do things you think you could not do before.”

Even before they could call next of kin, AOC was calling out the NRA on Twitter. It REALLY bothers her that American citizens still have a right to own firearms, and she will do whatever she can to reverse that.

Well, so long as it doesn’t involve calling ICE if an ILLEGAL immigrant tries to buy a gun.

“I thought it was pretty amazing to watch the Democrats try to decide ‘Do we want to protect illegal immigrants or do we want to confiscate guns more?’ It was kind of funny,” Hudson said at the Conservative Political Action Conference. — Read the rest HERE

(We will point out that the NRA does NOT have a presence in New Zealand, for the obvious reason that the Second Amendment right to bear arms is a specifically American right in law.)

What was her knee-jerk response to this tragedy?

Even for her, that’s pretty flipping stupid.

Let us count the ways…

1) Thoughts and prayers is NOT the intellectual property of the NRA.

Unless you mean to say that THIS guy is an ‘NRA shill’:

2) Thoughts and prayers as a political ‘deflection’ to change the topic.

Actually, the opposite is true. As explained in the responses to her tweet:

3) The only one making it a POLITICAL conversation is Occasional Cortex herself.

Although this makes some sense because in the New Left, political devotion has become a proxy for religious zeal.

Since she’s obviously an ‘expert’, let some reporter ask her: Specifically which of New Zealand’s already-strict gun policies does she see as the point of failure here? Or is she just tilting at windmills again?

4) She doesn’t even notice that she mocks prayer as meaningless… when the VICTIMS were themselves AT PRAYER.

What, exactly is the takeaway here? If only they were as secular and irreligious as she was, they would never have BEEN at prayer, and they couldn’t have been shot in the first place. That sounds pretty bigoted against EVERY faith, not just a particular one.

5) She mentioned Sutherland Springs…

…forgetting or not realizing that it was an NRA instructor who finally stopped the bad guy in that story… only AFTER all the various gun laws that SHOULD have prevented the killer from owning any firearms at all had completely failed.

Pittsburg also required an armed response to stop it. And several good cops died trying to do so.

6) She doesn’t even consider how many lives would have been saved if a Good Guy with a gun (she doesn’t believe they exist) could have put a bullet in his sorry ass. Or a hail of them.

The list could probably go on forever. But that’s a good start.

With so many dead, it’s a pretty sad statement that her first reaction is to use them as a prop to sell her anti-2a agenda — especially when a couple of armed citizens, or even guards, might have stopped this guy cold.

And that’s precisely the right of protection that the NRA has been defending here in America all this time.
