A $250M lawsuit was all it took for WaPo to tell a non-partisan version of the story that previously made some High School kids out to be the spawn of Satan in the eyes of the national press.
Here’s a quick recap of what happened to this point.
The family of Nicholas Sandmann, the Covington Catholic High School student who was filmed staring down a Native American protester in Washington, D.C., last month, is suing the Washington Post for its coverage of the incident. The suit, which seeks $250 million in damages, accuses the Post of “targeting and bullying” Sandmann, 16, as part of an ongoing campaign to smear President Trump. Sandmann and several of his classmates were wearing “Make America Great Again” hats during the confrontation in front of the Lincoln Memorial following a pro-life rally last month.
“In a span of three days in January of this year commencing on January 19, the Post engaged in a modern-day form of McCarthyism by competing with CNN and NBC, among others, to claim leadership of a mainstream and social media mob of bullies which attacked, vilified, and threatened Nicholas Sandmann, an innocent secondary school child,” the suit read, adding that the Post “ignored basic journalist standards because it wanted to advance its well-known and easily documented, biased agenda against President Donald J. Trump by impugning individuals perceived to be supporters of the President.”

Now that the lawyers are involved, more than a month after the fact, WaPo is ‘setting the record straight’. They could have done this from day one had they wanted to… but a racially-charged story involving white kids in MAGA hats in conflict with some black activists and a native with a military service record back in the Vietnam Era was too good an opportunity to resist.
The narrative that story would tell conforms to each and every allegation and bias the media on the Left have held toward Trump personally and Conservatives generally for years past counting.
But now — all these weeks later — they’re finally walking it back. They’ve scrubbed some social media. Notice the period of delay between the dates on the two tweets:

Jan 19th to March 1st. That’s just the kind of prompt and timely correction, you’d expect from a newspaper more concerned about its reputation than a lawsuit don’t you think?
Nah. We don’t buy it either.
Here’s resembling the neutral reporting they should have given in the first place — when it was still unclear who was right and wrong in this situation:
Proving that they DO know what honest and impartial journalism looks like, it’s just not on the menu at the Washington Post.
Funny how the “Mainstream” Press took until March to give a Correction anyone might actually see. (Their original correction was tucked in at the bottom of the story, days after people had stopped reading it.)

Did we mention that some of their claims and accusations against the boys (minors!) had ZERO corroboration? Not that it mattered to them. Nothing backed up their claims that anyone had said build the wall.
But they saw what they wanted to see, and reported what they wanted the REST of us to see.
And isn’t that exactly why we call them fake news? Because they almost NEVER give us the down-the-middle reporting they tried to provide in their video above?
If the PartisanPress ever figures that out, maybe they won’t be one of the least trusted institutions out there.
Trailing everyone except Congress, that is. And ‘more trusted than Congress’ isn’t exactly something to brag about, especially when integrity and trust IS essentially your product.
