If you thought gassing up by odd and even license plates like they did in the ’70s was crazy, wait until you hear this ‘bold proposal’.
The scary thought is there are people out there who would gladly ENFORCE this suggestion. Not exactly sure how they would go about it, but they probably would.
Because they don’t really care about individual freedom, and catastrophic climate change is a powerful cudgel to threaten people into compliance with. (Which, for the record, is precisely the reason so many people are skeptical of it.
Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro on Friday recommended that people should eat less food and “poop every other day” to preserve a healthy environment.
“It’s enough to eat a little less. You talk about environmental pollution. It’s enough to poop every other day. That will be better for the whole world,” Bolsonaro said.

Of course, like most things, it sounds voluntary, doesn’t it?
Eat less food.
Be considerate and don’t drop a deuce every day.
Just like recycling sounded ‘voluntary’ in the beginning. Try telling that to the people who live in cities that regulate the color of your trash bag, and slice it open on your lawn if you dare to have the wrong items placed inside of them.
The power play goes through the usual cycles: Present the new morality. Create ‘awareness’ campaigns to make it socially acceptable. Use peer pressure to shame those who are unwilling to comply. Use legal carrots and sticks to finish the job.
Where is this going to take us? Special government-mandated meters on our toilets?
Isn’t this Brave New World so exciting?
Will anyone stop to ask what — exactly — pooping less often could possibly do to ‘save the planet’ from the dreaded ‘carbon footprint’?
Especially if people decided to get around any new regulations the same way the people in San Francisco have — by answering nature’s call right there on the city street.
What could *possibly* go wrong?
