IMPEACHMENT: Why America Shouldn’t Take The Democrats Seriously

Written by Haley Kennington on September 24, 2019

As part of their continued effort to undermine President Donald J. Trump for political purposes, Democrats in the House Judiciary Committee have voted to move forward with yet another fruitless investigation. Only this time, Democrats are out for blood and have opened an impeachment inquiry.

Rep. Doug Collins, the Ranking Member of the House Judiciary Committee, explained that a full House vote is needed to introduce articles of impeachment. But it’s a vote Democrats know they can’t win.  “They know they don’t have the votes for the whole House to impeach, so they’re trying to adopt committee rules to govern an ‘impeachment investigation’ the House hasn’t even authorized,” Collins said.

The probe, which House Judiciary Chairman Jerry Nadler has called “formal impeachment proceedings,” is just the latest example of how out of touch House Democrats have become. Nearly 60 percent of Dems in the House support moving forward with impeachment, although a substantial majority of Americans—61 percent—oppose attempting to impeach the president. Worse, Nadler’s impeachment inquiry is clearly not a serious attempt to remove Trump from office.

Considering House Dems don’t even have the full support of their own party, passing impeachment in the Senate is little more than a leftist pipedream.

With the Mueller report revealing zero evidence the Trump campaign engaged in criminal conspiracy with Russia in 2016, Democrats have become increasingly desperate. Their move toward impeachment is their latest effort to beclown themselves, but it certainly isn’t the only one. Leftists have also scoured the president’s finances and made continual false allegations that President Trump obstructed justice, all in a foolish attempt to delegitimize the Commander-In-Chief.

House Democrats, it would seem, aren’t serious about governing. They aren’t operating in Congress to serve the best interests of their constituents. Their only interest is scoring political points with their radical base in a vainglorious endeavor to “stick it” to the president. And if the impeachment inquiry and the RussiaGate hoax weren’t evidence enough, the Left’s folly is even reflected in the legislation they are pushing.

Spit-balling Dems have now set their sights on pushing “hyper-partisan” bills that would undermine both the Trump Administration and American interests. And the House’s National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) epitomizes this trend. Their NDAA legislation isn’t a serious attempt to pass reasonable legislation. It’s a bill designed to disrupt Trump’s America First agenda simply out of spite.

The House version of the NDAA for Fiscal Year 2020 includes defense authorization bill H.R. 2500, which effectively cuts $17 billion from the $733 billion proposed authorized spending budget. This would impair national security by limiting the DOD’s activities at the U.S.-Mexico border, halt increased military pay, prohibit the deploying of lower-yield nuclear weapons, ban new prisoners from being sent to Guantanamo Bay, and undermine the America First space program before it has the chance to get off the ground.

But it gets worse. The NDAA bill also retains multiple, purely partisan amendments designed to harm Trump specifically. For instance, the legislation blocks the Defense Department from spending money at Trump properties while also prohibiting the president from deploying troops to the border. Neither provision makes the country any bit safer; instead, each amendment is crafted to score political points. And now, the Dems only continue to push their radicalism further by going after the president’s signature space program.

House Armed Services Committee (HASC) Chairman Adam Smith (D-WA) has also proposed changes to the National Security Space Launch (NSSL) program that will cost taxpayers millions.  Among other things, Smith’s proposal would run the program’s competitive standards afoul and issue crony earmark awards to undeserving companies—seemingly benefitting liberal poster boys like Elon Musk’s SpaceX at the expense of Americans’ security.

In typical Democrat fashion, these changes would weaken America’s progress in space, causing detrimental consequences to the country. Their space plan modifications are, unsurprisingly, opposed by nearly the entire defense community. The Senate, Air Force, and White House all opposed the program’s proposed amendments, which would needlessly spite the president’s spacefaring agenda and enrich Democrat campaign contributors alike.

The Democrats, with their enduring love of political power and immense loathing of President Trump, are sure to invoke the deployment of even more desperate tactics by the left the closer we advance towards the 2020 presidential election. As with RussiaGate and their dream of impeaching President Trump, the Democrats continue to present their tired theatrics, grandstanding to their constituents, and insatiable desire to earn political points, even if that prevents things getting things done in the legislative branch or puts the safety of Americans at risk. Democrats have never served the America First agenda, so this should come as no surprise to anyone familiar with their schemes. It’s high time for a change.
