Why do we call them fake news? Because they’re partisan hacks that embellish or lie to hurt their opponents, and cover up embarrassments to help their friends.
In other words, they will deliberately mislead the public so that their guy has a shot at willing.
And the founder of one of the ‘respectable’ news outlets openly admitted it.

In a letter to the Editor in the New York Times, Martin Tolchin (more on him later) explained exactly what his political agenda is. Here is his letter, verbatim.
To the Editor:
“I totally disagree with this article. I don’t want an investigation. I want a coronation of Joe Biden. Would he make a great president? Unlikely. Would he make a good president? Good enough. Would he make a better president than the current occupant? Absolutely. I don’t want justice, whatever that may be. I want a win, the removal of Donald Trump from office, and Mr. Biden is our best chance.
Suppose an investigation reveals damaging information concerning his relationship with Tara Reade or something else, and Mr. Biden loses the nomination to Senator Bernie Sanders or someone else with a minimal chance of defeating Mr. Trump. Should we really risk that possibility?

The Times column to which Mr. Tolchin was responding called on the Democratic National Committee to investigate the allegation by Tara Reade, a former Senate staffer who accused then-Sen. Biden of pinning her against a wall and digitally penetrating her without her consent in his Senate office in 1993. At least six people have corroborated parts of Ms. Reade’s story since she spoke out in March. —Times
He’s a hack. A Democrat that only makes a pretense of being ‘caring’; about being a ‘champion of justice’ that the Left pretends to identify as. In fact, he explicitly does NOT care about whether or not Tara Reade was assaulted by his preferred candidate.
Tolchin broke it down to what really drives him: a naked political power grab. As though we haven’t seen right through them all along. As though this isn’t PRECISELY what we mean when we mock you as ‘Fake News’.
In his paradigm, Tara Reade is nothing more than expendable fodder. Merely a pawn in a greater game.
The Georgetowner has this little gem in a brief biographical article about the nonagenarian founder of Politico:
Given the sorry statistics facing journalism today, one wonders about the future of that pantheon, considering the Gallup poll Tolchin cites that shows Americans’ trust in journalism has fallen since 1976, when it was at an all-time high of 76 percent, to an all-time low of 32 percent.
Tolchin doesn’t analyze what happened in those four decades to cause Americans to lose trust in the media, but he reports an eye-popping political cleavage: the level of trust in the press is 76 percent for Democrats, 42 percent for Independents and 21 percent for Republicans. —Georgetowner
Gee, if only there were some sort of a clue as to what causes such ‘political cleavage’.
