You may, at one time or another, come up on some event and hear that from a police officer or a firefighter. Most people, and I’m one of them, drive slowly past whatever it is because they want to see it, and silently say a prayer that it wasn’t them. That is part of what I could call human nature. Human nature takes many forms, depending on what the person is experiencing…and sometimes that “human” part gets lost in whatever is taking place at the time. Humans are supposed to be the thinking, reasoning, animal…but there are times and people where humanity completely disappears.
Fifteen months back, in March of 2019, an altercation occurred. It wasn’t really much of an altercation because the victim was eighty-five years old. He was holding a banner expressing his view of abortion, which was for it. The pro-lifer was participating in a peaceful 40 Days for Life campaign when the assailant stole the victim’s banner and viciously beat the victim. The same assailant had assaulted the victim and another man just two days prior. The elderly man tried to stop the theft of the banner by putting a stick holding the banner into the spokes of the bicycle. The perpetrator shoved the man to the ground and began violently and repeatedly kicking and threatening him.
“We are appalled by this brazen assault against an elderly man who was simply exercising his First Amendment rights on a public sidewalk,” said Life Legal Executive Director Alexandra Snyder.
“The vicious attack against our elderly client is intolerable,” Life Legal Senior Counsel Allison Arand. Police took statements from the pro-lifers assaulted, but it isn’t likely the police in such a left-wing city will be much interested in doing anything about the attack. At the time this assault took place I don’t believe anyone had a clue as to what was coming down the pike to America…but we’re in the morass now, up to our eyeballs, aren’t’ we?
July of 2018 Breitbart News had a story about the MANY violent things put up against President Trump. They reported that when not calling Trump supporters “Nazis” as a means to dehumanize us, the establishment media like to whine about the lack of civility in American politics, even as they cover up, ignore, downplay, or straight-up approve of the wave of violence and public harassment we are seeing against supporters of President Trump. It is open season on Trump supporters, and the media is only fomenting, encouraging, excusing, and hoping for more. The media are now openly calling Trump supporters “Nazis” and are blaming Trump for a mass murder he had nothing to do with. This, of course, is a form of harassment because it incites and justifies mob violence. There is a list of these things, and it’s 639 individual mentions. There’s a Twitter note actually threatening the President’s family…but Twitter didn’t take it down. A cadre of Hollyweird people, among them James Cromwell said, “There will Be ‘Blood in the Streets’ Unless Trump Stopped”. A New Jersey GOP Congressional Candidate Receives Letter Threatening His Children…his children! Think of that.
Do you remember Mitch McConnell and his wife being threatened and chased out of a restaurant where they were simply trying to have a quiet meal? Rosie O’Donnell calls on the military to remove Trump, as if she had any pull with the armed forces…even though she’s got a lot of moxie to make statements like that. Threats against the President, his family, and, unless I’m mistaken, members of the administration, are felonies. Why aren’t these people making these outrageous statements being picked up and jailed, while they await trial? Surely the evidence is there in plain sight. Republican State Rep. Sarah Anderson was assaulted in Minnesota, so October of 2018 was a very busy month for people that I would have no problem labeling as anti-American. A Minnesota DFL staffer has been suspended from his job after suggesting in a social media post that Republicans face beheading after the Nov. 6 election. In response to a Facebook post that listed Nov. 6 as the day to “take back your country,” DFL deputy communications director William Davis wrote “11.7-bring them to the guillotines.”
Vandals targeted the Metropolitan Republican Club in Manhattan on Thursday evening (October 12, 2018)in an apparent politically-motivated intimidation campaign. The Metropolitan Republican Club said Antifa had been trying to shut down their event on Friday evening with conservative pundit Gavin McInnes. The official spokesperson for the club said Antifa had “desperately” been trying to get the Metropolitan Republican Club to cancel the McInnes speech. The group’s latest attempt to shut down the event involved vandalizing the club’s 1930s, pre-war building and leaving a threatening letter, part of which said, “Tonight, we put the Republican Party on notice,” the letter begins, labeling McInnes a “hipster-fascist clown” and accused the club members of “treachery against humanity. Our attack is merely a beginning. We are not passive, we are not civil, and we will not apologize,” the letter continues. “Those of good conscience and clear mind know this state of oppression cannot remain.”
Parting shot: I said at the beginning that the human part of our nature has sometimes gone missing. At this time in our history, it seems to have departed from our psyche entirely. Unless, and until, we take positive, strong, action…we are lost.
