With fewer than three months before the 2020 election, a suspicious package containing a deadly poison was intercepted by law enforcement while it was on its way to the White House.
A package containing the poison ricin and addressed to President Donald Trump was intercepted by law enforcement earlier this week, according to two law enforcement officials.
Two tests were done to confirm the presence of ricin. All mail for the White House is sorted and screened at an offsite facility before reaching the White House.
A US law enforcement official told CNN that investigators are looking into the possibility the ricin package sent to Trump came from Canada.
The FBI and Secret Service are investigating the matter.

Ricin is a highly toxic substance derived from castor beans. It’s naturally occurring and has been used in terror plots. If ricin is ingested, it causes nausea, vomiting, internal bleeding of the stomach and intestines, followed by multiple organ failure–liver, spleen, and kidneys, and finally, death due to the collapse of the circulatory system.
This is the second time that President Trump has been targeted with ricin. Back in 2018, a Navy veteran sent President Trump and top military brass several envelopes, some of which contained the natural ingredients used to make ricin. William Clyde Allen III, 39, was indicted on mailing a threat to a President, five counts of mailing a threatening communication to an officer or employee of the United States, and one count of threatening to use a biological agent and toxin as a weapon.
Back in 2018, Eric Trump revealed on Sean Hannity’s show that all of the members of the Trump family have received suspicious packages with “white powder” in them through the mail.
