House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s actions show that she believes that politics is more important than the lives of average Americans. House Republicans are calling her out.

Unused PPP funding has been sitting around for months while businesses and employees are suffering, but House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was determined to not let anyone get relief until after she had made sure that the “little people” suffered until after the election. She wouldn’t want anyone to think that a Republican administration had anything to do with saving small businesses from government-imposed shutdowns during a pandemic or anything.

Rep. Steve Chabot had proposed a bill to allow businesses to apply for the unused PPP money, but Speaker Pelosi has refused to allow a vote on the bill. House Minority Whip Steve Scalise said that if it was put to the floor it “would get 400 votes.”

House Small Business Committee Ranking Member Steve Chabot, an Ohio Republican, proposed a bill in September that would allow small businesses to apply for $138 billion in unused Paycheck Protection Program funding. Lawmakers said the bill required no new funds to be spent but the legislation hasn’t been passed in the Democratic-led House. California Republican Rep. Kevin McCarthy, the top Republican in the House, accused Pelosi of putting politics before people.

“More than 30 times the Republicans have brought to the floor the ability to vote to bring assistance. More than 40 times the Democrats have said no,” he said on Thursday. “Today we hope that you will say yes. How many more businesses have to shutter? How many more dreams have to be shattered? How many more people have to be laid off before Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats will act?”…

…Scalise said Pelosi should put Chabot’s bill on the floor without delay.

“We’re calling on Speaker Pelosi to bring this bill to the floor to save all these small businesses who are dying on the vine and need this relief,” he said. “They need the relief today — not next week, not next month, not whenever Pelosi decides to stop playing games.”

Scalise added that small businesses don’t have time to wait for a new President to be inaugurated or for Pelosi to play her political games. “We’ve already lost over 100,000 restaurants in America that will never reopen. A third of every single small business in the entire state of New York is gone for good,” he said.

On Thursday, while standing on the graves of the deaths attributed to COVID, Speaker Pelosi said that she is now willing to settle for a smaller COVID relief bill because of a “completely changed dynamic.” She explained to the dim journos in the room, “In less than 1000 hours, Joe Biden will be inaugurated President of the United States [pause] and we have a vaccine which hopefully will be approved by the committee today to go forward.” Pelosi continued for the even slower ones in the back, “That change in dynamic enables our President-To-Be to say, ‘This is a first step, but much more needs to be done.'”

Her disgustingly partisan comments begin at the 22:00 minute mark.

McCarthy blasted Pelosi for her partisan antics while Americans suffer.

“Speaker Nancy Pelosi finally admitted to what every member standing behind me already knew — she sabotaged the COVID relief deal simply because of an election,” McCarthy said. “She put politics before people. It was more important for her to hurt President Trump politically than to help the American people.”

Last week, Speaker Pelosi said that she had made a “decision” to not pass a COVID relief bill in the House because she wanted to stuff the bill with Democrat pork unrelated to COVID. Well, she didn’t exactly say it that way, but if you read between the lines, you get that.

Disgusting!

Is this one of the motivating factors for Governor Cuomo deciding to shut down indoor dining in NYC indefinitely and demanding that the Feds pick up the tab that he knows that Pelosi and the incoming Biden admin will have his back and pony up? Probably.

You know how Democrats are when it comes to bellying-up to the trough.

Good on the Republicans for holding Democrat feet to the fire on this.
