The press is quick to jump on stories exonerating China’s Wuhan lab as ground zero for the virus, without citing conflicts of interest. Will they be as quick to promote this one?

University of Hamburg researcher Roland Wiesendanger has concluded a study, involving over 600 different lines of evidence. The conclusion? Ultimate blame for origin the Wuhan Novel Coronavirus that swept the planet last year belongs squarely at the foot of the Wuhan lab.

Should we put any stock in what this guy is saying? He is ‘kind of a big deal’.

Prof. Dr. Roland Wiesendanger, head of the research group “Raster Sensor Methods” at the Department of Physics at the University of Hamburg, has received the “ERC Advanced Grant” from the European Research Council for the third time in a row.
The ERC research project “ADMIRE: Atomic-scale Design of Majorana states and their Innovative Realspace Exploration” focuses on researching new concepts for a quantum computer based on magnetic atomic chains applied to superconducting surfaces and new types of particles, the so-called Majorana particles, which are also their own antiparticles. Quantum computers would not only be considerably more powerful and efficient than conventional computers, they would also offer completely new possibilities in encryption technology and tap-proof communication.

Prof. Wiesendanger has already been successful with two projects in the European Excellence Initiative since 2009: FURORE: Fundamental studies and innovative apps of REsearch on magnetism “and” ASTONISH: Atomic-scale Studies of the Nature of and conditions for Inducing Superconductivity at High-temperatures ” dealt with magnetism on an atomic and molecular scale as well as superconductivity at high temperatures. Roland Wiesendanger’s research group will work on the new ERC project ADMIRE for five years, the project will start on January 1, 2019. Seven new junior researchers will be able to receive funding directly from the ERC.

The ERC’s funding program supports leading scientists in Europe in promoting excellent and visionary research. In addition to the innovative strength of the basic research program applied for, the scientific reputation of the applicant plays a decisive role in the success in the competition for research funding in the millions. –Translated from a press release in the original German

In looking into the origins, he made a controversial statement that might be easily dismissed if he were a more obscure or less reputable researcher:

He is dismissive of the wet market explanation, and believes it was a lab accident.

Here’s why.

A summary of the report outlines the primary arguments in favor of Wiesendanger’s case, emphasizing the fact that the host has still not been identified; the virus can “couple surprisingly well to human cell receptors”; The Wuhan lab “carried out genetic manipulations on coronaviruses for many years with the aim of making them more contagious, dangerous and deadly for humans”; and that there were “significant safety deficiencies” at the facility:

In contrast to earlier coronavirus-related epidemics such as SARS and MERS, until today, i.e. well over a year after the outbreak of the current pandemic, no intermediate host has been identified that has enabled the transmission of SARS-CoV-2 pathogens from bats to humans could. The zoonosis theory as a possible explanation for the pandemic therefore has no sound scientific basis.
The SARS-CoV-2 viruses can couple surprisingly well to human cell receptors and penetrate human cells. This is made possible by special cell receptor binding domains connected to a special (furin) cleavage site of the coronavirus spike protein. Both properties together were previously unknown in coronaviruses and indicate a non-natural origin of the SARS-CoV-2 pathogen.
A research group at the virological institute in the city of Wuhan has carried out genetic manipulations on coronaviruses for many years with the aim of making them more contagious, dangerous and deadly for humans. This is proven by numerous publications in the scientific specialist literature.
There were significant safety deficiencies in the virological institute in the city of Wuhan even before the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic, which are documented.
There are numerous direct indications of a laboratory origin for the SARS-CoV-2 pathogen. A young scientist from the virological institute in Wuhan is said to have been infected first. There are also numerous indications that the SARS-CoV-2 pathogen spread from the virological institute in the city of Wuhan and beyond as early as October 2019. There are also indications of a corresponding investigation of the virological institute by the Chinese authorities in the first half of October 2019. —NationalPulse

Adding further credibility to that theory are specific examples of coverup evidenced in the lab itself, as detailed in that same news source.

American taxpayers will be forced to provide funding to the controversial Wuhan Institute of Virology thanks to a new authorization granted by the Biden administration’s National Institutes of Health.

The current director of the NIH is Dr. Francis Collins, who was appointed in 2009 by former President Barack Obama.

On Tuesday, the NIH told the Daily Caller News Foundation that it approved the use of taxpayer money to bankroll the Wuhan Institute’s ongoing animal research until 2024.

It’s unclear why the institute needs funding from American taxpayers, given how strong the Chinese economy is. — WesternJournal
