‘Woke’ Lori Lightfoot Slapped With Lawsuit By Reporter — For Racial Discrimination

When an elected government tramples the rights of the citizen, the courts have the power to reign them in. Lori Lightfoot is about to learn that the hard way.

Certain activists on the left — all the way up to the White House, by the look of it — think they have unchecked power to push any agenda they want because the people who could tell them ‘no’ are aligned with them.

They hold the balance of political power. They hold the media and Silicon Valley in their pockets. Academia backs them up. Armies of street activists (some of whom are recruited on Craigslist and paid by the hour) are called on to whip up excitement for the cause.

Should it really surprise us when someone like Chicago’s Mayor, Lori Lightfoot, declares that she’s making a racial requirement for anyone seeking an interview with her?

In the lingo of her party’s culture, this is the logical next step, a sort of ‘virtuous racism’ intended to counter the institutional racism they have been declaring America to be guilty of. Unfortunately for her, there are laws against that sort of discrimination. Yes, even when that discrimination targets a white guy.

The Daily Caller News Foundation and Judicial Watch filed a lawsuit against Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot on Thursday over the mayor’s refusal to grant Thomas Catenacci, a white reporter, an interview.

The lawsuit, filed in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, Eastern Division, alleges that Lightfoot’s denial violates the DCNF and Catenacci’s First Amendment rights and Catenacci’s right to equal protection under the Fourteenth Amendment.

“It’s absurd that an elected official believes she can discriminate on the basis of race,” DCNF Editor-in-Chief Ethan Barton said. “Mayor Lightfoot’s decision is clearly blocking press freedom through racial discrimination.”

…Lightfoot denied Catenacci’s request by “failing to respond in a timely manner,” the lawsuit said, noting that “on information and belief,” Lightfoot is aware that Catenacci is “not a journalist of color.”

“Racial discrimination has no place in America, especially in the halls of government,” Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton said. “Mayor Lightfoot’s admitted policy of race-based discrimination is flagrantly illegal and immoral. Simply put, we’re asking the court to find Mayor Lightfoot’s racist abuse unlawful.” —DailyCaller

The left’s current chokehold on both government and culture gives them the sort of unchecked power the Left could only dream of before now. And Biden’s test balloons of pushing radical racist theory as official government policy went unchallenged by the institutions with whom they are aligned, including most media.

This is why they are emboldened to push policy they would never have dared push just a few short years ago. The kind of ideas that seemed fringe just a few years ago when students held Profs at Evergreen College hostage after insisting white people not come to school on one particular day.

We watched as similar racial dynamics played out around Mizzou. If this spread isn’t stopped, with mechanisms like this lawsuit, it will continue unchecked. And then what?

It’s good to see that pushback is starting to happen.
