A video of a black dad confronting the school board about Critical Race Theory in schools went viral for all the right reasons. “How’d I get where I am right now if some white man kept me down?” he asked.

Ty Smith is a weekend radio host and runs a YouTube channel called Modern Renaissance Man. holds two medical degrees — a physical therapy degree and an orthopedic physician’s assistant degree.

He says that CRT is going to “teach children to hate each other” and is antithetical to the view of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. who said, “I look to a day when people will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.”

“When you talk about critical race theory which is pretty much going to be teaching kids how to hate each other, how to dislike each other. It’s pretty much what it’s all gonna come down to. You’re going to deliberately teach kids ‘this white kid right here got it better than you because he’s white’ and you’re gonna tell a white kid ‘the black people are all down and suppressed,’” Smith said. “How do I have two medical degrees if I’m sitting here oppressed?”

Smith added, “Well how did I get where I am right now if some white man kept me down? How am I now directing over folks that look just like you guys in this room right now? How? What kept me down? What oppressed me? I worked myself off the streets to where I am right now and you’re going to sit here and tell me this lie of Critical Race Theory? That this is the reason black folks can’t get ahead, because of white folks? Are you kidding me? I can’t believe we’re even talking about this.”

Many supporters of CRT teaching are claiming that those who oppose it just don’t understand what it is. Let’s be clear, CRT itself isn’t being taught in K-12 schools, because, according to James Lindsay, it is “a scholarly and political approach to examining race.” However, it is the CRT lens through which other subjects are viewed and taught to students.

The CRT view holds that America is “fundamentally constructed on race” and all human interactions are based on race. It categorizes people as “oppressors” and the “oppressed.” According to proponents of CRT, the “solution” to this embedded racism is “anti-racism” — which is apparently very difficult to define even by the biggest grifter pushing it — this is done by ending the concept of merit and objective truth, as well as the adoption of overt race-based policies. And Marxism. It always comes down to Marxism.

Smith appeared on Fox News on Friday and explained just how awful he thought it was to teach kids through the lens of CRT.

“To me it’s a whole bunch of nonsense, virtue signaling, playing off people’s emotion. The only race there is the human race,” Smith told “America’s Newsroom.”

Smith said that “color was never discussed in his house at all.”

“We know as children grow, they just see other kids and they will immediately start playing,” said Smith, who went viral this week after blasting critical race theory at an Illinois school board meeting.

After the video went viral, many were questioning Smith’s credentials — especially his claim that he has two medical degrees.

Sorry, haters. Some people are just awesome.

Not everyone has a dad around, but everyone can have a mentor.
