Hey Church. Ready to unleash the big guns? The kind of big guns that keep the legions of hell up at night?

Good. We hammer that on Eric Metaxas’ show.

The mighty men of scripture weren’t bearded ladies begging God to rescue them from the mean, bad world. They went on offense, scattering the powers of Hell with heavy artillery big enough to get the job done.

And if you believe the lie that those big and powerful prayers are for those ‘other’ guys, the ‘super-saints’ you need to go back to James 5 and read what God says about the ‘ordinary’ believer when he prays.

The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working. Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed fervently that it might not rain, and for three years and six months it did not rain on the earth. Then he prayed again, and heaven gave rain, and the earth bore its fruit.

The real power isn’t in the believer that prays, but the God whose strong arm that believer trusts.

Now that you’ve been reminded that you — yes even YOU — can do the praying, let’s look at the firepower you have access to. It’s the same arsenal that has given tyrants night sweats for centuries.

Do you know who said this? “I fear the prayers of John Knox more than all the assembled armies of Europe.”

Mary Queen of Scots, better known as ‘Bloody Mary’ because she burned 300 Protestants to death as heretics. Was she right to fear those prayers? Well, she became queen at 37 and died only five years later… of an illness.

Blessed be the name of God forever and ever, to whom belong wisdom and might. He changes times and seasons; he removes kings and sets up kings; — Daniel 2:21 ESV

If we SAY we believe in a God that big, how about the Church learns how to PRAY like we believe in a God that big.

The Bible is already packed with exactly that kind of prayer… if you know where to look.

That’s what today’s show is about. Enjoy!

Psalms of War: Prayers That Literally Kick Ass is a collection, from the book of Psalms, regarding how David rolled in prayer. I bet you haven’t heard these read, prayed or sang in church against our formidable enemies and therein lies the Churches problem. We’re not using the spiritual weapons God gave us to waylay the powers of darkness. It might be time to dust them off and offer ‘em up if you’re truly concerned about the state of Christ’s Church and of our nation.

Also included in this book, Psalms of War, are reproductions of the author’s original art from his Biblical Badass Series of oil paintings.

This is a great gift for the prayer warriors. Real. Raw. Relevant.
