Neil Young Demands Spotify REMOVE His Music From The Platform — ‘They Can Have Rogan Or Young, Not Both’

Hey, Hey, My, My! It looks like Rock’n’Roll CAN die — or at least the “question authority” aspect of it can.

Neil Young, 76, wrote an open letter to his manager and record label demanding that Spotify remove all of his music from their streaming platform because they have exclusive rights to the “Joe Rogan Experience” and Young believes that Rogan’s show is spreading “vaccine misinformation.”

Young wrote, “‘They can have Rogan or Young. Not both.’

The open letter has since been deleted.

The Daily Mail posted some excerpts from the letter:

‘With an estimated 11 million listeners per episode, JRE [Joe Rogan Experience], which is hosted exclusively on Spotify, is the world’s largest podcast and has tremendous influence,’ he writes.

‘Spotify has a responsibility to mitigate the spread of misinformation on its platform, though the company presently has no misinformation policy,’ he wrote.

He added: ‘I want you to let Spotify know immediately TODAY that I want all my music off their platform … They can have Rogan or Young. Not both.

‘I am doing this because Spotify is spreading fake information about vaccines – potentially causing death to those who believe the disinformation being spread by them.

‘Please act on this immediately today and keep me informed of the time schedule.’

That’ll be a real head-scratcher for Spotify. What do they do… stand behind the guy that they inked a $100 million dollar deal with because his massive podcast audience crushes mainstream news outlets? Or do they back a music legend whose main audience is aging? Decisions, decisions.

Young’s position is quite the contrast to that of guitar legend Eric Clapton, who is also 76, who suffered a frightening adverse reaction to the vaccine and has been an open critic of government lockdowns and vaccine mandates.

Young made a big hullabaloo about Joe Rogan spreading disinformation and then he deleted it.

Why the heck would he do that?

Well, it turns out, Young’s demand may not even be legit.

The letter was addressed to Frank Gironda, Young’s manager, and Warner Records which releases his work through Reprise Records.

Gironda confirmed the letter to the Daily Beast, adding: ‘It’s something that’s really important to Neil. He’s very upset … we’re trying to figure this out right now.’

However, since the singer sold 50 per cent of his catalogue to a UK investment fund it remains unclear whether he has the right to make this demand.

Ever since Spotify made the deal with Rogan, there have been many people demanding that they censor him. Recently, a group of over “270 scientists” signed a letter urging the streaming platform to adopt a “misinformation policy” after Rogan hosted Dr. Robert Malone who was on the team that pioneered mRNA technology that has been used for the popular COVID vaccines. It turns out that the vast majority of those people weren’t doctors or even medical experts as ClashDaily mentioned in this post.

Spotify has faced internal unrest from employees when it inked the deal with Rogan who opposed the comedian and podcaster hosting guests that espouse alternative views from progressives. In 2021, it was revealed that, as a condition of the deal, the streaming service removed 42 early episodes of “The Joe Rogan Experience” from the catalog — including one of Rogan’s most-watched episodes, #1255 with Alex Jones.

If none of that dissuaded Spotify from giving Rogan a (fairly) open platform, then Neil Young’s now-deleted “ultimatum” isn’t going to do much, either.

It would seem that at least one septuagenarian musician is a jab-happy, triple-masked Fauci-worshipper who wants you to live in fear.

That’s crap and we know it. We can’t let the Land of Liberty turn into a Biomedical Security State that eliminates free speech because a handful of people who used to know how to question authority now want the government to keep them safe forever.
