Cowardice. My last painting for 2021 is this depiction from the movie The Patriot. This is what happened when chicken-hearted, Reverend Oliver, would not preach or oppose the overreach of King George and his redcoats. It took people getting hung in front of his church, and a teenage girl’s impassioned rebuke, to finally wake the dear reverend the heck up.

Rev. Oliver finally got it and he quit hiding behind his pulpit and said, ‘a shepherd must tend his flock, and at times, fight off the wolves’ and with that he joined the resistance. Which I’ve depicted here.
