The Left can’t figure out why we won’t just run up the white flag, give in to their authoritarian agenda, and simply let them rule over us.

What makes people in Italy rally around — and elect! — a woman like Giorgia Meloni for their new Prime Minister?
Many ‘experts’ have tried to put their finger on the ‘why’… and most of them have failed miserably. Mostly because the ‘experts’ haven’t bothered to ask the people in the movements the pretend to be experts about.
The catch-all is to find ways to connect it to, surpise surprise, extremism. They find tangential excuses or phrases that will connect it to some other movement in some other time, not realizing that every movement and every generation responds to different questions.
Here’s the newly-minted Prime Minster of Italy explaining in her own words what is really driving the movement she’s spearheading — and for our readers on this side of the Atlantic, a lot of it will sound very familiar.
Naturally, the speech is delivered in Italian, but there are subtitles.

Please answer me these questions. This is about what we are doing here today. Why is the family the enemy? Why is the family so frightening? There is a single answer to all these questions. Because it defines us. Becuase it is our identity. Because everything that defines us is now an enemy. for those who would like us to no longer have an identity and to simply be perfect consumer slaves.
And so they attack national identity. They attack religious identity. They attack gender identity. They attack family identity. I can’t define myself as an Italian Christian, woman, mother.
No. I must be citizen x. Gender x. Parent 1. Parent 2. I must be a number. Because when I am only a number, when I no longer have an identity or roots, then I will be the perfect slave at the mercy of financial speculators. The perfect consumer.
That’s the reason why… that’s why we inspire so much fear. That’s why this event inspires so much fear. Because we do not want to be numbers. We will defend the value of the human being. Every single human being. Because each of us has a unique genetic code that is unrepeatable. And like it or not, that is sacred. We will defend it.
We will defend God, country, and family. Those things that disgust people so much. We will do it to defend our freedom. Because we will never be slaves and simple consumers at the mercy of financial speculators. That is our mission. That is why I came here today.

British Author David Goodheart defined the difference between the rootless cosmopolitan globalists and their opposites who are very much rooted in their personal location and history.
The ‘anywheres’ could live equally in any global metropolis because the structures and institutions they consider important are easily reproducable around the world. New York. Tokyo. London. Dubai. Shanghai. Buenes Aries. It’s all the same to them. Just give them a city, some banking, some fine dining and shopping, and it really doesn’t matter which office from which they run their business.
The ‘somewheres’ are a different breed entirely. They know their neighbors. They have muti-generational burial plots in a cemetery. They have a local place of worship that is different from any similar one across the country or even down the street because of the people that fill it. They have roots.
The ‘anywheres’ have been in a position of cultural ascendancy for a very long time.
The fact that they are finally getting serious pushback from the ‘somewheres’ has caught them off-guard. They give it all kind of ominous-sounding names to justify a police crackdown on the new threat to their cultural hegemony. They call it ‘radical’ or ‘facism’ or a ‘threat to democracy’.
They will call it anything but what it is — the marginalized everyman deciding he’s sick and tired of being taken for granted by his own country, and is insisting on finally having his voice heard.
If that means he has to pick a despised ‘outsider’ to represent his interests and start tearing down the kudzu growing up in government departments… so be it.
