Pro-Life activist Lila Rose appeared on a recent episode of “Dr. Phil” and got into a heated back-and-forth with an audience member.

From Fox News:

A new Dr. Phil installment centering on abortion and the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade saw a pro-life advocate clash with the show’s host and an audience member during several tense exchanges on Monday.

In the first episode of Dr. Phil’s 21st season, pro-life activist Lila Rose sat down with the doctor, as well as a pro-choice couple to discuss various facets of the abortion issue, including the question of when life begins.

Dr. Phil said nobody on the panel is “pro-death” or “pro-abortion,” instead labeling the divide over abortion as a disagreement between those who are “pro-choice,” and those who are “pro-life.”

The show host is trying to be as diplomatic as possible and not step on toes, but the heart of the abortion issue is when life begins.

One particular exchange between Rose and an audience member made it pretty clear that the central question of when life begins is something that pro-abortion activists do not want to address.

“There is nothing that you can possibly say to justify that level of lack of empathy,” the woman yelled at Rose, to the applause of audience members. “That’s the problem I feel like in this country, at the moment, we were founded on the lack of empathy, and we’ve just kept up with that tradition. You have no empathy.”

In response, Rose said that people don’t like to talk about the mental health toll that abortion can have on women.

“You know what it’s really like to get raped and then have to have the child, what kind of trauma is that producing on somebody?” shouted the woman.

“The child’s an innocent party there–,” replied Rose.

“The child isn’t born yet—it’s not there,” shouted the woman angrily.

Rose said that it’s wrong to take out “generational sin” on an innocent child. The audience member said that the focus of the discussion should be about the “right” that was taken away and what other rights might be next.

Rose’s response was powerful,”I want to address that because our fundamental right that we all share in this room is life. It’s the first human right. Laws are meant to protect the week, in a society who’s the weakest? Who’s the weakest in society? A child. They don’t have a voice.”

The woman disagreed and said that the children weren’t the weakest in society — it was actually the poor that are the weakest.

Rose said, “whether you live 10 minutes or 10 years, or 100 years, you’re a human life, and you have the right not to be killed.”

Mike Cernovich posted the clip on his Twitter account with an interesting suggestion… turn the volume down and see if you can tell who is on the side of “good” and who is on the side of “evil” without hearing what they’re saying.

Rose also got into a disagreement with Dr. Phil about when life begins.

He insisted that there is “no consensus” in the scientific community about when life begins, but Lila brought the facts.

“If it’s not a life, then why do you have to kill it?” asks Rose.

Great question.

Rose got called out the pro-abortion position of determining that life begins at birth in an exchange with Christian F. Nunes, president of the National Organization for Women (NOW).

Nunes dodges Rose’s questions about the extreme position that NOW holds — abortion on demand for all 9 months of pregnancy — which is much farther than the vast majority of Americans think should be permitted.

Lila Rose handled herself admirably in each exchange, despite being the one painted as holding the “extreme” position.

Kudos to Dr. Phil for bringing on a rational pro-life advocate who knows her stuff on his show.

Credit where it’s due — he seems to want to have real conversations instead of caricaturing the pro-life position which is what has been done for the last half a century.

Lila did a fantastic job defending the pro-life position.

Let’s pray her calm, rational demeanor changes hearts and minds.

Biblical Badasses: The Women

In Doug Giles’ latest book, Biblical Badasses: The Women, Giles spotlights ten epic ladies who did awesome things for God with the odds severely stacked against them. These girls weren’t your typical church ladies. They were holy movers and shakers who upset hell with their God-honoring, faith-filled, lives. Giles’ unique take on these terrific women makes the scripture come alive. This book is real, raw, relevant, and irreverent. Giles’ prayer is that after reading, Biblical Badasses: The Women, not only will your noggin be filled with these amazing tales of high and lows from real women who rocked in a hard place, via the power of God, but that you will get off your butt, quit pursuing stupidity, start chasing down your high calling and at the end of your life, you too, like the holy femme fatales featured herein, will have left a massive scar on Satan’s haggard backside.
