The Righteous Are Bold As A Lion

“The wicked flee when no one is pursuing, but the righteous are bold as a lion.”

— Proverbs 28:1

Solomon says that boldness is the trait of the righteous and the redeemed and fleeing is the trait of the wicked and the damned.

Here’s a little interesting observation: You don’t see Jesus fleeing when pursued by religious or political idiots or even Satan himself (Mk 1:13; Mt 23). Matter of fact, and far from fleeing, Jesus regularly got up in their grill when they went full retard in His presence.

Same thing with John the Baptist. He wasn’t characterized by sporting shriveled testicles and chewing his fingernails. John was bold (Mt 11:7).

The same goes for the apostles and prophets. They were bold, salty dawgs (Acts 4:13; Acts 4:29).

Indeed, the biblical protagonists, lauded by Holy Writ, were bold before men and devils (Heb 11:1-40). They were bold in their risk-taking (Heb 11:8). They were bold in their love towards the unlovely (1Cor 1:26-31). They were bold in the faith (Heb 11:24-27). They were bold in their prayers (Acts 4:29).

They were bold with their sense of humor. Especially Elijah and Paul (1Kgs 18:27; 1Cor 4:8). Even in a culture that wanted to cancel them. Speaking of a sense of humor, comedian John Cleese of Monty Python fame, said, “Humor by its very nature is critical. And if you say there’s a ‘special’ group of folks you can’t offend then humor is gone and with humor goes a sense of proportion. And when that vanishes, as far as I’m concerned, you’re living in 1984.”

Yep, the biblical mainstays embodied what Daniel 11:32 says, … “the people who know their God will be strong and take action.”

So, in case you’re not getting it: the evil are the fear-laden and craven backward-looking hamsters and the true Christian is B-O-L-D, bold.

What a gift from God. The power to live bold, wild, and free in Him!
