WATCH: Player Gets Bell Rung At NHL ‘Trans Draft’ Tournament

[CLICK TO BROWSE]

Sports and gender aren’t generating controversy because of ‘bigotry’. It’s an issue because of a kind of fairness the left no longer recognizes, based on a fact the left no longer acknowledges.

Here’s how the story was introduced in the DailyMail:

A female-to-male transgender hockey player was left concussed after being knocked to the floor by a much larger male-to-female trans opponent during a controversial NHL-backed tournament.
Danny Maki was knocked down and left concussed following what appeared to be an accidental rough hit at the Team Trans Ice Hockey draft in Middleton, Wisconsin, late last month.
The incident has only just been reported by Quillette magazine, whose journalist Jonathan Kay suggested that the two-day tournament had been subjected to a woke cover-up

Before we show the video, it’s important to recap what’s driving the whole fight about gender-and-women’s-sports.

The central argument made by the gender-is-a-construct crowd is that, well, gender is a construct. To them, gender has no real, objective expression in real life. Gender is not an immutable function of biology, but rather, a flexible function of ‘feelings’ and ‘identity’.

This is no mere difference of opinion. It is rooted in axiomatic ideas and assumptions that are as central to a person’s interaction with the world as religion and core philosophy.

Traditionalists, meanwhile, would be happy to lay out a spreadsheet showing how some world records set by the very best female athletes can sometimes be bested by high-performing high school males. It’s a difference in physiology, one that goes (literally) as deep as our bones.

Women’s sport was created as a carve-out so that female athletes, who generally pose no real threat to their male counterparts, could compete against one another to discover who among them was the best of the best. You can see for yourself how almost any sport in which success measures a display of strength, speed, or explosive power, and there is a significant difference in the results put up by men and by women.

Why do we have separate spaces for women? Traditionalists would argue it’s because we genuinely care about women, and don’t want to see atrocities like these:

MMA fighter Fallon Fox, who twice broke an opponent’s skull to win a match, has been called the bravest athlete in history. Fox, a male to female transgender athlete, destroyed Erika Newsome in a Coral Gables, FL, MMA fight during which she “secured a grip on Newsome’s head… With her hands gripping the back of Newsome’s skull, she delivered a massive knee, bringing her leg up while pulling her opponent’s head down. The blow landed on Newsome’s chin and dropped her, unconscious, face-first on the mat.” That was Newsome’s last pro fight.
… Fox also beat Tamikka Brents, giving her a concussion and breaking 7 orbital bones. But that’s super brave, too, taking an unfair, male-bodied advantage and using it to give female-bodied opponents brain injuries.
Vice defended Fox, saying “Fallon was born with a peen. No one’s perfect. I throw away too much salad. She was raised as a dude, as I am told is traditional in Ohio for babies born with outwardly expressive genitalia. But that peen never did sit right with her and, since 2008, she has been a woman in mind, body, and soul.” Brents was not told that Fox was trans before the fight.
“I’ve fought a lot of women and have never felt the strength that I felt in a fight as I did that night,” Brents said, recounting her experience fighting Fox. “I can’t answer whether it’s because she was born a man or not because I’m not a doctor. I can only say, I’ve never felt so overpowered ever in my life and I am an abnormally strong female in my own right… I still disagree with Fox fighting. Any other job or career I say have a go at it, but when it comes to a combat sport I think it just isn’t fair.” Vice said this was just “whining.”

Nevertheless, the activists persisted.

They used their usual tools of social pressure to cheer or demean those who took the right or wrong side of this social issue, as they always do. With surprising speed, there was a new rainbow flag variant to which people were swearing allegiance and a new letter in the alphabet people vernacular.

If you don’t think a guy in a dress should compete in women’s sport, you are denounced as a bigot.

Concerns raised over fairness and safety fell on deaf ears. The girls who were lapped in a swim meet should have just trained harder so they could beat the athlete who changed his trunks for a one-piece and went from being a mediocre male swimmer to a record-setting champion in the women’s leagues. Even lesbian tennis legends who dare to raise objections to these stunning and brave athletes are ‘problematic’ and ‘bigots’ for doing so.

This brings us to hockey, where a special match featuring trans athletes playing against each other was held.

The NHL, which more or less dodged the bullet when other leagues were kneeling for anthems and paying fealty to BLM, went all in on this trend. The league’s official account promoted a tournament specifically celebrating transgendered athletes.

When challenged by someone in the traditionalist camp, whoever ran the official account made it clear that their axiomatic reality aligned with the woke activists.

And then reality had a say in the matter. It played out exactly the way traditionalists would have predicted. Someone got hurt. And it wasn’t even a big hockey hit. It was incidental contact while the other player was trying to take control of the puck.

For a point of reference, here is a collection of some good, hard, clean hockey hits where big men crash into other big men, shake it off, and keep playing.

Now look back at the ‘trans tournament’ where # 90 bumped the puck handler who then went crashing into the boards. We’re supposed to react as if this kind of serious injury is just ‘part of the game’.

Sorry, but this writer actually watches hockey, and isn’t going to be conned so easily.

Is serious injury just part of a high-speed rough-and-tumble game? Sure. But what we see in that clip is nothing like your *typical* hockey injury.

You don’t really see little bumps like that ending in catastrophe in men’s games and you don’t see it when women play other women. Where you DO see it happens to be the one place a traditionalist would have predicted it.

The player that fell is described as a female-to-male trans athlete, while the one that remained standing is described as male-to-female.

The word games activists try to trap us with got turned on their head:

There was a time, not so long ago, when men were happy to be men.
And women were glad for it.

If Masculinity Is ‘Toxic’, Call Jesus Radioactive

Much of the Left loathes masculinity and they love to paint Jesus as a non-offensive bearded woman who endorses their agenda. This book blows that nonsense all to hell. From the stonking laptop of bestselling author, Doug Giles, comes a new book that focuses on Jesus’ overt masculine traits like no other books have heretofore. It’s informative, bold, hilarious, and scary. Giles has concluded, after many years of scouring the scripture that, If Masculinity Is ‘Toxic’, Call Jesus Radioactive.
