One Democrat candidate from Virginia was catapulted from being a relative unknown to a national story because of one detail about her personal life — and that detail is not serving her candidacy well.
Susanna Gibson was not a household name in her run to represent the Democrats in the Virgina House of Delegates. But when the story broke about some of her explicit acts on adult websites, she suddenly was.
Voters have had some time to process that information and polls have not been kind to her.
A new poll from Cygnal obtained by the New York Post showed that support for Gibson dropped from 49.5% to 38.9% after the damaging revelation.
Her Republican opponent, David Owen, had only a 4% lead over Gibson prior to the scandal. Gibson’s unfavorability rating has also skyrocketed from 12.5% to 45.2% among likely district voters.
“It’s no surprise that Ms. Gibson’s polling poorly,” said Aaron Evans, a spokesman for Owen’s campaign. “David Owen is remaining focused on his common-sense agenda of renewing the economy, lowering crime, and improving our schools for the future of Virginia families.” — The Blaze
Gibson has gone so far as to complain that her own voluntary for-profit online sex acts have somehow constituted an invasion of privacy, going so far as trying to invoke the phrase ‘sex crime’ in her claim of victimhood.
You’d expect an educated adult willing to bare it all online would understand that you should never upload content onto the internet with any assumption it cannot eventually become public.
A naive child may be able to express surprise and dismay about online content finding its way into the public domain, but a grown adult performing sex acts for money?
Who does she think she’s trying to con, here?
