ABORTION: Judge Shoots Down Ballot Measure Over Dirty Trick Played By Lobbyists

They played too fast and loose with the ballot measure tactic... and paid a price

After the Dobbs decision setback, Dems when on full offence looking for another way to achieve their goals. And they’ve gotten pretty good at gaming the system.

If you’ve been paying any attention at all, you know we’re talking about the use of ballot measures to change abortion law at the state level.

With their skill at deceptively creative wordsmithing and dominance in the media, they have made gains in unexpected places, pushing change that would never make it through the traditional legal process.

This process has already seen success in seven states — including states where Dems do not hold primacy. Activists have become bolder. They are leveraging that success to drive other agenda priorities.

At least one Nevada Judge noticed the trend.

When the case came before him, he didn’t like it.

A judge in Nevada rejected a proposed 2024 ballot initiative that sought to enshrine reproductive rights, including abortion, in the state’s Constitution.

Siding with a newly established PAC — the Coalition for Parents and Children PAC — which filed a lawsuit last month to block the petition, District Judge James T. Russell deemed the proposed ballot initiative to be too broad, embracing a “multitude of subjects that amount to logrolling.”

“This is probably the clearest case I have seen that I think there is a violation of the single subject rule,” Russell said, according to local outlet KOLO News, which first reported the ruling.

“I’ve seen a lot of them over the years and in respect to this particular matter, there are too many subjects,” the judge added. “Not all of which are functionally related to each other.” — TheHill

Abortion proponents are already planning their next run at this, calling this judge ‘misguided’.

Maybe that degree of single-minded tenacity goes further to explain their success in pushing an agenda than anything about the issue itself. They apply this kind of focus on a range of issues.

How many issues could you name where the other side fights with anything remotely like the same level of tenacity and focus?

If conservatives are as concerned about losing their culture to the activist class as they claim, they may want to start here.
