OOPS: Tough-Talking Newsom’s Week Keeps Getting Worse And Worse… Here’s The Latest

He started the week by scolding Trump and daring Homan to arrest him, but now...?

Typical of so many Dems, Gavin started with the assumption that he was holding the moral high ground and scolding everyone who disagreed with him. It didn’t take long for him to start backpedaling.

It began last week, when ICE was serving warrants on businesses in LA’s fashion district. Word got out of the arrests, and ‘protesters’ tried to keep them from doing their job. Police sat on their hands as the situation escalated. Before long, we were right back to the familiar riots we saw the last time school broke for summer in a Trump presidency.

This time, the cause du jour was protesting ICE. But the attacks against law enforcement, blocking of roads, and torching of official vehicles followed the standard, all-too familiar pattern.

Gavin’s hot opposition to serving valid warrants

Newsom ignored the fact that there were duly-granted judical warrants for the searches and went straight to denouncing the ICE raids, and daring Tom Homan to arrest him, personally. Of course, Tom Homan has only said that he would arrest anyone found to have been violating the law in impeding operations or harboring illegals. To this point he has not indicated any interest in serving those arrests, even though he’s made it clear that he is more than happy to do so if the need arises.

Popping off about Federal Response to the riots

He made a big deal about Trump sending in reinforcements. Journos tried to back him up with stories about the protests being ‘mostly peaceful’, but with the split-screen footage exposing their lies in real time, fewer and fewer tried to push that narrative. More on that in a moment.

Newsom claimed Trump was out of line in federalizing/mobilizing a contingent of the National Guard and sending Marines to protect federal agents and buildings to restore order.

I’ll fight you in court!

He boldly announced he would fight Trump in court, filing an ’emergency request to limit Trump’s LA troop deployment’. Request denied. He’ll have to go through the ordinary process just like anyone else. And he will lose. Precedent is on Trump’s side.

Next, Gavin started complaining that Trump had never spoken to him about the situation. Trump used the news media to expose Gavin — yet again — as the cheap fraud most of us already know him to be in the most glorious way possible.

The boomeranging Trump smear

For context, let’s begin with Gavin’s lie: ‘There was no call. Not even a voicemail. Americans should be alarmed that a President deploying Marines onto our streets doesn’t even know who he’s talking to.’

Trump provided the call logs to John Roberts of Fox News. Not only did Trump talk to Gavin for 16 minutes, the first time Trump called him, Gavin did not pick up.

They can quibble over timeline, maybe. But to say that Trump never called him about the riots is a demonstrable lie. And he should be careful with how he slanders people, since that ‘doesn’t even know who he’s talking to’ line can cut both ways.

An update on the raids that started it all

Ready for some salt in the wound? ICE has announced that some of the folks arrested since Friday’s raids have already been deported or have opted for self-deportation. And the DOJ is looking into the where these rioters are getting their funding. Since these are leftwing groups, backed by big dollar donors, this could put a serious crimp in their Blackshirt GOTV effort. Worse still, if charges are leveled and accounts frozen, this could hurt the same people they rely on for funding election campaigns. Especially since ActBlue’s name has come up as a suspected funder of these violent ‘protest’ efforts.

Gavin’s big news conference

At least he’s got Silicon Valley helping him keep it together, right?

Nope. Despite his close connections and benefits that come with being Governor of the most technologically sophisticated region on the planet, he can’t manage to get a simple live broadcast to work properly.

He had massive technical difficulties delaying it long after he was supposed to be live, leaving him open to further mockery.

Et Tu, CNN?

But when everything else goes sideways, surely CNN can have his back, right?

Stelter tried his best to gaslight Americans…

But he got mugged by reality, instead. The mayor announced a curfew not long after his tweet. Here she is describing the significant damage and disruption that the violence had already caused in the city, including businesses that had been looted.

Just don’t call it a ‘riot’. That would hurt The Potato’s widdle feewings.

Lesson learned? A pattern has revealed itself over the years he’s been in office: the more insistent Gavin gets, the more likely it is that he’s lying.
