St Patrick’s Day: Trump Vs. Mamdani… Who Did It Better?

Which of these leaders faithfully invoked the memory of St Patrick?

With yesterday being the day the world celebrates Ireland’s most famous Christian, it was only natural that some of our leaders would work a reference to either the day, or the man himself into their remarks.

Since it would be ‘rigging the game’ just a little bit to use his Oval Office meeting with Ireland’s Head of State as the basis of comparison, let’s look instead at what Trump said in his remarks afterward, as contrasted to Mamdani’s remarks.

Here is Trump invoking St Patrick’s prayer as (in the words of America’s fist President) an ‘Appeal To Heaven’.

He went on from there to say other things relevant to the concerns of the day, including, of course, the situation in Iran.

By contrast, here is Mamdani using the occasion of a Christian memorial, not it its own right, but as a political means to an end, and opportunity to launch into a polemic about politics and colonialism that had NOTHING to do with the words, life, or frankly the message of the Apostle Of Ireland himself.

In fact, the message Mamdani endorses makes only the most passing reference to the Christianity for which the Apostle Of Ireland, as he describes him, was known so that he can wax eloquent about violent uprisings and Marxist ideology that are literally antithetical to the man the day is intended to honor.

Imagine for a moment that an American politician used the occasion of the end of the Ramadan fast to talk about the heroic deeds of Charles The Hammer Martel in the Battle of Tours of 792 telling the armies of the defeated Caliphate that they could go this far, and no further, before eventually pushing them back to the Spanish Peninsula?

There would be outrage that Islam had been insulted in such a way.

And yet, how is this different? A man with neither connection to, nor understanding of the Christian faith is doing the thing the left ALWAYS does, dressing themselves up in a costume like a skin-suit to advance an unrelated cause of their own. They do it when they hijack institutions they haven’t built, and they are doing it even now as they make good on their promise to wrest control of the Democrats from the ‘normies’ of the conventional left.

The parasite, in this case, has almost fully consumed the host while the host seems oblivious to its own destruction. Or maybe they just realize they’ve lost control and are helpless to do anything about it.
