Heroes And Zeros Show True Faces In The Rescue Of Downed American Aviator
No producer would have run a screenplay that was so 'on the nose'

One country shoots the eyes out of female protesters, the other moves heaven and earth to save the life of one downed aviator. We are not the same.
Looking back at how this dramatic response to a harrowing situation played out, it’s hard not to compare it to the time S.M. Lockridge dramatized the death and resurrection of Jesus with a famous sermon called ‘It’s Friday, But Sunday’s Coming‘
It was, in fact, Good Friday when an America F-15 was shot down over Iran. The pilot was quickly found and returned home. What followed was a battle against time as both countries raced to find the other survivor first.
…But Sunday’s Coming.
It couldn’t have been scripted any better. After 48 hours of hiding in a cleft of a mountain ridge some 7000 feet up, we can report he came home with zero cost to American lives.
He came home early on Sunday.
Easter Sunday.
After a massive series of operations that included a feint to misdirect Iranian efforts, a forward base built in the midst of enemy lines, some firefights with the IRGC forces, Uncle Sam secured the ultimate rescue of the downed colonel.
Said the President, on social media:
We have rescued the seriously wounded, and really brave, F-15 Crew Member/Officer, from deep inside the mountains of Iran. The Iranian Military was looking hard, in big numbers, and getting close. He is a highly respected Colonel. This type of raid is seldom attempted because of the danger to “man and equipment.” It just doesn’t happen! The second raid came after the first one, where we rescued the pilot in broad daylight, also unusual, spending seven hours over Iran. An AMAZING show of bravery and talent by all! I will be having a News Conference, with the Military, at the Oval Office, on Monday, at 1:00 P.M. God Bless our great MILITARY WARRIORS! President DONALD J. TRUMP
In the intervening time — and even after the rescue — we got to see the true face of some people who seem to be actively cheering for the failure of American efforts, and the demise of American servicemen.
Wildly erroneous claims abounded.
Trump’s been admitted to Walter Reid. (Easily disproven by the marine posted outside the White House.)
Trump has ordered troops to bomb the pilot rather than rescue him.
Could you BE any more wrong that that one?
The Daily Mail even embarrassed itself with a headline about an alternate history of how many casualties could have occurred as a result of this operation… instead of acknowledging the actual events as they unfolded.
Other ‘news’ sources made sure to safely quanantine the words ‘Easter Miracle’ in scare quotes. Rather than simply admit that a rescue whose complexity and execution bordered on the miraculous was, in fact, carried out on Easter Morning.
Snarky social media types talked about the ‘waste’ of all this effort going to save one downed airman.
The lives of both downed pilots were saved because a grateful nation cared enough to spare no expense in saving those lives.
Contrast that to, for example, Putin throwing hundreds of thousands of conscripts into a pointless meat grinder in Ukraine to what… reunify the USSR?
Not every culture is the same.
