McConnell Pushes Dems To Vote On ‘Green New Deal’ Right NOW – Dems Aren’t Too Happy About It

‘Cocaine Mitch’ had just a hint of a smile as he said it because he knows exactly what kind of mischief this will unleash on the Democrats.

Last week, the Democrats were tripping over themselves to virtue signal their love for Mother Gaia by signing onto the Green New Deal.

Then came the laughter. LOTS of laughter.

Cow farts. No air travel. Getting paid even if you don’t WANT to work.

The more closely we looked, the crazier it was.

It’s very obviously a vehicle designed to transform America into a Socialist Dystopia… but for the ‘greater good’, of course.

Then came the backpedaling, gaslighting and outright lies. They pulled down the very paper they had so proudly launched just days earlier.

But Republicans have seen an opportunity to make them own it. The same document that Democrats have suddenly tried to distance themselves from, or dismiss as a ‘draft’ or a ‘forgery’ has been entered into the Congressional Record, courtesy Liz Cheyney.

Yes, boys and girls, it’s ‘forever’, now.

Liz Cheney went further, by asking very specific and embarrassing questions about the practical matters of the Green New Deal. She did a good job of making them squirm.

But the fatal blow to their little project may have come wrapped in a subtle smile from ‘Cocaine Mitch’.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said Tuesday that the Senate would vote on the Green New Deal introduced last week by Sen. Edward Markey, D-Mass., and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y.

“I’ve noted with great interest the Green New Deal, and we’re going to be voting on that in the Senate to give everybody an opportunity to go on record,” McConnell told reporters.

The proposal, which is not expected to pass the Republican-dominated upper chamber, could force some Democrats to make a politically awkward calculation.

Why could this be a political masterstroke?

… it will force Senate Democrats, including a slew of 2020 presidential candidates, to vote on the proposal — potentially providing votes for McConnell and the GOP to exploit politically.

“It’s astonishing to see this many presidential candidates moving so far to the left on a position that is going to raise energy costs for families, hurt jobs in America and really provide almost a government takeover of many of the industries in our country,” said Sen. John Barrasso (Wyo.), chairman of the Environment and Public Works Committee and a member of GOP leadership.

Barrasso said his main motivation in bringing the deal up for a vote is the presidential election, adding that it’s important, “to get people on record as to how much they really want to take this country in a hard left direction.”

Multiple Democrats who are running or considering running in the 2020 presidential election have backed the plan, including Sens. Cory Booker (N.J.), Elizabeth Warren (Mass.), Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) and Kirsten Gillibrand (N.Y.).

This could be the ultimate Democrat self-own.

They propped up AOC as the new fresh face of their party. They clamored to line up behind the radically socialist environmental proposal.

And now they’re stuck. Stand by it, and they go into 2020 tattooed as an extremist in their own party. Disavow it, and they lose credibility and the support of the loudest and most active members of their own base.

Nobody made them endorse the Green New Deal, and now they’ve made this a KEY question in the 2020 election.

Game.

Set.

Match.
