JOURNALISM 101: AOC Tweets And ‘Fake News’ Spirals Out Of Control

Journalism is dead. Here’s proof…
Trust in the media is at an all-time low. Most Americans believe that reporters file their stories before knowing the facts and 60 percent of people surveyed think that sources pay journalists to report the stories.
Unsurprisingly, the trust in media sources is divided along party lines with Democrats more likely to still have faith in unbiased reportage while virtually all Republicans find bias as rampant.
Here is a prime example of why that is.
On Monday, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez(D-NY) retweeted a photo of some high school students wearing “Team Mitch” t-shirts (that are available for purchase on the Senate Majority Leader’s website,) mocking a cardboard cutout of the freshman Congresswoman. One teen has his arm around her waist and appears to be kissing her cheek, while one is holding his hand as though choking her. The others are simply making a “thumbs-down”, one is pointing, and one is just standing smiling.
AOC was very, very offended.
Hey @senatemajldr – these young men look like they work for you.
Just wanted to clarify: are you paying for young men to practice groping & choking members of Congress w/ your payroll, or is this just the standard culture of #TeamMitch?
Thanks. https://t.co/ysRJuwonUx

It turns out that these weren’t staffers on the Mitch McConnell team, but a group of high school students who had a photo of them posing with the lifesize cutout posted online.
The Daily Beast jumped on this nontroversy and reported on it with one helluva spicy tweet claiming that the campaign manager for Senate Majority Leader “essentially said boys will be boys.”

Except… that’s not what he said at all.
Kevin Golden, Cocaine Mitch’s campaign manager first said that the teens weren’t official members of the campaign and that the image (along with the comments) were being used to publicly shame young Republicans. He then went further and condemned the photo itself.
In a statement, Kevin Golden said the media is using the image to “demonize, stereotype, and publicly castigate every young person who dares to get involved with Republican politics,” adding that “these young men are not campaign staff, they are high schoolers.” In another statement, Golden condemned the photo, saying: “Team Mitch in no way condones any aggressive, suggestive, or demeaning act toward life sized cardboard cut outs of any gender in a manner similar to what we saw from President Obama’s speechwriting staff several years ago.”

Back in the day, Vanity Fair had slammed Obama’s “wunderkind” speechwriter, Jon Favreau, for his sexist stunt with the Hillary cut out. Allegedly, Favreau was an adult at the time even though he wasn’t behaving like one.

So, AOC spreads a story framing teen boys wearing “Team Mitch” shirts, and The Daily Beast reported it and shaped the story.
Not to be outdone, Newsweak, oh, sorry — Newsweek, reports on that AOC “slams” McConnell campaign’s “boys will be boys” defense.
That’s not what happened at all.

It isn’t until the third last paragraph that Golden’s statement is quoted in the article.
And now, this is the narrative — especially now that AOC is turning the outrage up to 11 for political purposes.
New York Post headline:
AOC blasts McConnell again: ‘Boys will be held accountable… starting with Mitch’
New York Daily News headline:
The far-left sites are also predictably spreading this “fake news” just as The Mary Sue does here:
They’re not even hiding that they’re getting their marching orders from the left.
Look at what the Former Newspaper of Record, The New York Times, did with its headline after liberals went batsh!t crazy reacting to it.
Alex Griswold of The Washington Free Beacon puts it all in perspective.

They’ve learned nothing from the horrific Covington kids Social Media(D) pile-on.
They’re going to continue to dox children for their political views.
But heaven forbid you say anything critical about an autistic climate activist that says she can see invisible CO2 with the naked eye.
Or say that the “drag kids” movement is sexualizing children — or mention that convicted pedophiles like it.
The left is very concerned over the misogyny of these teens wearing “Team Mitch” shirts, but it would be totally cool if these teen boys were dressed in pleather, thongs, platform heels, wrapped in feather boas twerking next to AOC’s cutout — because that would be real progress.
Lord Jesus, come quickly. #Maranatha
We’ve all seen the dishonest games the left have played with the power they’re entrusted with, they’re obviously unworthy of that trust.
But what about 2020? Could a moral person pull a lever for Trump with their integrity intact? Would Jesus himself vote for Trump? We’re glad you asked. There’s a brand new book that covers precisely that question:
“Would Jesus Vote For Trump?” by Doug Giles and Brandon Vallorani.
Would Jesus ever choose someone, with a less than stellar past, to be a leader? Would Jesus be cool with how Trump blasts CNN, The Left, and his feckless ‘compadres’ on The Right? What about Health Care? Would the Great Physician give Trump’s opposition to ObamaCare the ‘two thumbs up?’ Find out in this BEST-SELLER!
