Throwback Thursday: When Chuck Schumer Appeared On The Apprentice He Praised Donald Trump

Does Chuck remember this? We do. Check it out.

Back in the day, when Donald J. Trump was the biggest star on television, one of his guests meeting with contestants was his “friend” and Democrat Senator Chuck Schumer.

In the clip, Schumer praised Trump and said, “Even when he was much younger, you knew he was going places.”

Little did Chuck know that one of those places would be the White House.

How time and party affiliation change things!

Trump and Schumer have a history that goes back decades and apparently even generations. According to Schumer, their grandfathers were builders together in Brooklyn.

“His father and my grandfather were builders together in Brooklyn,” Schumer said of Trump during a 2006 cameo appearance on Trump’s reality TV show, The Apprentice. “Even when he was much younger, you knew he was going to go places.”

President Trump has said that he and Chuck were friendly in the past and that he’s donated to Schumer’s campaigns. Chuck was happy to take the cash at the time.

Now that President Trump has decided to relocate to Florida because of the high taxes and the declining living conditions in New York, his buddy Chuck is now saying that New York is the place for people who “make it” and it’s appropriate for President Trump to leave.

It’s not clear when they first met, but records show the now-Republican Trump began donating to Schumer’s campaigns in 1996, with contributions through 2010 totaling nearly $10,000. Trump reportedly hosted a fundraiser for the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee in 2008 at his Mar-a-Lago Club in Palm Beach, Fla., when Schumer chaired the committee.

Since 1987, Trump has been registered at times as a Republican and Independent and, from 2001 to 2009, as a Democrat.

“He used to love me when I was a Democrat, you know,” Trump joked about Schumer, at a dinner in New York in 2016.

The text of the tweet claims that Schumer used to name drop to impress the ladies, but it’s unclear if that’s true and also… eeeeeewwww! I just don’t even want to go there.

It certainly seems as though Chuck liked Trump in this video.

You can watch the entire clip here.

In a 2016 interview with Politico, Schumer denied that he was friends with Trump.

Chuck still took the money even though he says that he didn’t like the man. He was just using him.

Much like Chuck is using him now as the lightning rod for criticism, a scapegoat for Congress not accomplishing a damned thing, and a distraction for all of the dysfunction, foot-dragging, and bald partisanship of the Democrats in Congress.

Gee, I guess things haven’t changed much after all.
