WEAPONIZATION: The Timeline For When The IRS Went After Matt Taibbi Is VERY Sketchy

[NOTE: This article may contain commentary reflecting the opinion of the author.]

The whole point of having non-political public servants should be obvious. Fairness under the law should have nothing to do with which team you root for politically.

The political left has done nothing but cheer and jeer as one story after another of the DOJ playing hardball with Trump-affiliated Republicans has come to light.

[Speaking of Trump:]

When the Durham Report came along, Dems and their supporters dismissed it as ‘no big deal’.

Either they dismissed the whole investigation as ‘partisan’ or they shrugged with indifference when they learned that hellbent-for-leather investigators creating multi-million-dollar investigations into Trump World out of the flimsiest of ‘evidence’ failed to take investigations into Hillary Clinton’s allegations of criminality seriously at all.

The Media are heavily Democrat, so they don’t care if a Republican takes a hit. Perhaps they’ll start to care when they notice one of their own is being targeted… or will his involvement in exposing the ‘Twitter Files’ mark him as enough of an ‘enemy or ‘outsider’ that they’re happy to see Matt be punished for infidelity to the party cause?

At the very moment in which Matt Taibbi was sitting before Congress to discuss his Twitter Files reporting — WATCH: Clueless Dem Rep Asks The Most Awkwardly-Worded Question In TwitterFiles Hearing

… Biden’s FBI was knocking on his door.

Taibbi used to write for Rolling Stone. Nobody with any credibility would try to call him a Conservative, let alone anyone aligned with MAGA, the TEA Party movement or the Freedom Caucus.

Matt seems to be pretty much an old-school reporter who follows the evidence where it takes him and reports on what he finds. He’s one of a dying breed of such people in a world packed to the gills with press-card-holding activists. (You may have noticed where Biden’s original spokes-muppet Jen Psaki ended up, for instance…?)

But if you look at the timeline you see something interesting. It looks like Team Biden took notice of an assignment that Taibbi took on when Elon Musk asked if he was interested. Judging by how derisively Dems spoke to him in the hearings, about him more generally, and how hostile the party was to the project itself, they found Taibbi’s project deeply offensive.

They are the government. He is a journalist. Elected officials and government workers aren’t supposed to like what journalists have to say. It is (literally!) a journalist’s job to dig up the stories the government wants to hide.

The First Amendment stipulates there is one thing that the government cannot, and must not do with journalists. They cannot punish a journalist for doing his job.

Let’s keep that in mind as we look at this *ahem* interesting timeline.

Taibbi — who was later found to have paid MORE than he actually owed on his taxes — received a personal visit from the IRS at his home on the day he was sitting before Congress. The IRS claimed this was over a matter of possible stolen identity and that they had sent two letters trying to reach him previously.

The IRS, strangely, was not able to produce these alleged letters when called upon to do so by oversight.

And the origin story behind the ‘investigation’ was more than a little suspicious.

Jordan went on: “The IRS’s production shows that the IRS opened its examination of Mr. Taibbi’s 2018 tax return on December 24, 2022. Not only was this date Christmas Eve and a Saturday, but it also happened to be three weeks after he published the first Twitter Files detailing government abuses and the same day that Mr. Taibbi published the ninth segment of the Twitter Files, detailing how federal government agencies ‘from the State Department to the Pentagon to the CIA’ coordinated to censor and coerce speech on various social media platforms.”
Taibbi revealed in March that an IRS agent visited his New Jersey home and left a note instructing him to call the tax bureau four days later.

This is exactly the sort of suspicious use/abuse of government power that prompted the creation of a Weaponization of Government Committee in the first place.

When Trump said ‘if they can do it to me, they can do it to anyone’ that was by no means a throwaway phrase.

But then, we already knew that, didn’t we? FISA ABUSE: Just How Many People Are Caught Up In This Sketchy Surveillance?

At what point will the ordinary Americans begin to care enough to do something?

John The Baptist: A Rude Awakening Precedes A Great Awakening.

This timely little tome chronicles the politically incorrect ministry of one of God’s most effective wildmen, John the Baptist, who prepared the way for Christ’s ministry.

The abrasive message of repentance John preached 2000 years ago is still confrontational and offensive today — but it is also life-changing.

In our putrid, worldly culture that has turned away from God, this book is a must-read for every Christian.

Available in paperback for those of you who like the feel of the pages in your hot, little hands, on Kindle to keep it right at your fingertips, and as an epic Audiobook.
